Diisopropylnaphthalene Fluid: the New Generation Synthetic Heat Transfer Fluid

Featured with colorless, odorless, low-toxicity, high boiling point and flash point, and strong thermal stability, diisopropylnaphthalene is the new generation high temperature synthetic heat transfer fluid based on naphthalene raw material. Its density is 958 kg/m3, 40℃ kinematic viscosity is 6mm2/s and pour point is -46℃. Diisopropylnaphthalene is also widely used in the manufacturing of carbonless copy paper, fuels and solvents due to its excellent dissolvent capacity.  

As the aromatic compound, diisopropylnaphthalene is produced through alkylation reaction, continuing the stability of naphthalene cyclic structure. As the synthetic heat transfer fluid, diisopropylnaphthalene has the properties of simple structure and high purity, it has excellent thermal stability. According to the thermal stability test conducted by our engineer team, the deterioration rate of diisopropylnaphthalene is less than 10% after placing in 330℃ simulation environment for 720 hours, which proves that diisopropylnaphthalene can be operated in 330℃ system for long term. 

The new generation diisopropylnaphthalene synthetic fluid has the following advantages:

1.       It has simple structure, high purity, and is odorless, colorless and friendly to the operation environment.

2.       Its low viscosity is better than most L-QC 320 fluids. Diisopropylnaphthalene has remarkable thermal conductivity, high-speed of increasing and decreasing temperature, good pumpability and low flow resistance.

3.       The extremely low pour point makes better system start-up in low temperature environment, which is more applicable in cold area applications and the systems have no demands of heat tracing.

4.       High flash point and self-ignition point make it safer to operate.

5.       The low saturated vapor pressure satisfies the operation requirements of liquid phase heating system.

6.       The diisopropylnaphthalene fluid could be used repeatedly through regeneration, decreasing the capital costs of users. 

The highest recommended operation temperature of diisopropylnaphthalene fluid is 330℃ and its maximum allowable film temperature is 350℃. The lowest operation temperature is -40℃. Diisopropylnaphthalene fluid could satisfy most liquid phase heat transfer fluid system requirements.
